KEY FACTS & RECORD HIGHLIGHTS
- Amendment 1 statewide: Yes 639,769 (56.26%); No 497,324 (43.74%). Yes leads by 142,445. 1,137,093 votes counted on the measure. Unofficial.
- 91 of 99 counties reporting, 1,516 of 1,656 precincts (91.6%).

- AP: no call on Amendment 1 (KCRG, 10:52 p.m.); AP's amendment tally lags SOS by about 100,000 votes.
- What passage means: a two-thirds vote of both legislative chambers becomes required to raise the individual or corporate income tax rate or create a new income tax. The simple-majority rule is replaced.
- All figures unofficial until the county and state canvasses certify them.

DES MOINES: Iowa voters have passed Constitutional Amendment 1. With 91 of 99 counties and 1,516 of 1,656 precincts reporting, Yes leads No, 639,769 votes to 497,324, about 56.3 percent to 43.7 percent, a margin of 142,445 votes. RDN calls the measure for Yes on the Secretary of State's figures: the Yes margin is larger than the vote still uncounted, so the outcome is certain even if every remaining ballot voted No.
What it means: the Iowa Constitution will require a two-thirds vote of both legislative chambers to raise the individual or corporate income tax rate or create a new income tax. The simple-majority rule is replaced.
The Associated Press has not yet called the measure; its own amendment tally lags the Secretary of State's by roughly 100,000 votes. RDN's call rests on the Secretary of State figures alone.
These are unofficial results. They stay unofficial until the county and state canvasses certify them. RDN follows the returns all night, with the next livestream at 11:30 p.m.
