Motorcycle Crash on W. Council Hill Rd. Results in Two Injuries

**GALENA, IL — On May 17, 2025, at approximately 2:55 P.M., a motorcycle accident occurred on W. Council Hill Rd., about half a mile east of N. Birkbeck Rd., in the rural area of Galena, Illinois. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was alerted via a 911 call reporting injuries stemming from the crash.**

**William J. Lambie, 36, and passenger Leatha M. Lambie, 43, both from Augusta, WI, were involved in the incident. According to the Sheriff’s Office, William lost control of the motorcycle on a loose gravel shoulder, resulting in the motorcycle tipping over and sliding across the roadway. Both individuals were ejected from the motorcycle, which ultimately came to rest on the north side of the road.**

**William sustained life-threatening injuries during the accident and was initially transported to Midwest Medical Center. He was later airlifted by AirCare 3 to an Iowa City hospital for further care. Leatha was taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, no arrests or criminal charges have been reported.**

**The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, with help from the Galena Police Department, Galena Fire Department, Galena EMS, Hazel Green EMS, and AirCare 3, is currently investigating the incident, which remains ongoing.**
