Hazel Green Man Taken into Custody for OWI and Firearm Possession During Traffic Stop

HAZEL GREEN, Wis. — On July 18, 2025, at approximately 10:32 p.m., a traffic stop was initiated by a deputy from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office on Highway 11 in Hazel Green due to a speeding infraction. The individual operating the vehicle, a 2020 Lincoln Aviator, was identified as Jacob Lucas, a resident of Hazel Green.

Upon further investigation, the deputy discovered that Lucas had recently consumed marijuana, leading to his arrest on charges of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), 1st Offense. A subsequent search during the arrest unveiled that Lucas possessed brass knuckles, a concealed firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is moving forward with charges against Lucas for possession of a weapon while under the influence of drugs and possession of THC. Authorities want to remind the public that individuals charged or arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and that an arrest indicates only the presence of probable cause to file formal charges.

According to Wisconsin Statute §950.04, the identities of victims and witnesses involved in this incident will remain confidential.
