Dubuque, Iowa – July 10, 2025 – Joslyn Jerisha Garrett, a 33-year-old woman, was taken into custody on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, following an altercation involving a handgun. She faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and first-offense possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), both categorized as misdemeanor offenses, according to the Dubuque Police Department.
The incident occurred around 5:51 a.m. in the 700 block of West 8th Street, where authorities responded to reports of a disturbance.
According to police reports, Garrett pointed a handgun at 32-year-old Davonte Derrell Anderson, who has been identified as the victim in this case. Following the altercation, Garrett was apprehended at 3:20 p.m. and subsequently booked at the Dubuque County Jail.
