**Former Asbury Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Distribution**
A 34-year-old man from Asbury, Iowa, Christopher Charles Smith, has been sentenced to 108 months in federal prison for his involvement in distributing child pornography. Smith entered a guilty plea on January 3, 2025, after acknowledging that he had engaged in the trading of child pornography via a messaging service.
Court documents reveal that in October 2022, Smith sent three videos of child pornography to an undercover officer during an investigation. His sentencing took place on June 30, 2025, before Chief Judge C.J. Williams of the United States District Court in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Besides the prison sentence, Smith will also face an 8-year term of supervised release once he completes his incarceration. He is currently in the custody of the United States Marshals, awaiting transfer to a federal correctional facility.
The case was thoroughly investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), with prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick J. Reinert. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse.
