Motorcycle Accident on Airport Road Results in One Injury During Torrential Rainfall

ELLENBORO TOWNSHIP, WI – On June 28, 2025, at around 1:00 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motorcycle accident with injuries occurring in the 7000 block of Airport Road in Ellenboro Township.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered that John Imel, aged 64, from Polo, Illinois, was riding westbound on his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle when the incident transpired. Inclement weather, including heavy rainfall, had created hazardous road conditions and decreased visibility, leading Imel to lose control while attempting to navigate a sharp turn. To mitigate the potential for a more serious crash, Imel made the decision to lay the motorcycle down on its side.

Melinda Imel, also 64 and from Polo, Illinois, was a passenger on the motorcycle and suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the crash. She was swiftly transported to Grant Regional Health Center by Lancaster EMS for medical attention. John Imel was reported to be unharmed, and the motorcycle exhibited only minor damage.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Lancaster EMS and the Lancaster Fire Department.
