Duo-Vehicle Collision in Muscoda Results in Two Injuries and One Arrest

Muscoda, WI – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of W. Front Street and S. Iowa Street on June 21, 2025, at 8:28 A.M. led to injuries and the apprehension of one of the drivers, as reported by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident involved a 2016 Nissan Versa, operated by 38-year-old Desiree Bird of Milwaukee, traveling west on W. Front Street, and a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by 29-year-old Mollie Lund of Muscoda. Officials determined that Lund failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection, resulting in her Subaru colliding with Bird’s Nissan. The collision left the Nissan immobile in the eastbound lane of W. Front Street, while Lund’s Subaru came to a stop in the parking lot of Walsh’s Ace Hardware.

After a brief exchange with Bird, Lund fled the scene on foot. Emergency responders from Muscoda Fire and EMS, alongside deputies from the Grant and Richland County Sheriff’s Offices, promptly arrived on the scene. Bird and her passenger, 62-year-old Rhoda Nance of Milwaukee, were taken to Gunderson Boscobel Area Health Care by Muscoda EMS for treatment of minor injuries.

VP Motors and Terry’s Tire and Tow assisted in clearing the vehicles from the site. The Nissan was determined to be a total loss, while the Subaru incurred moderate damages.

After the scene was cleared, authorities located and arrested Lund on two counts of hit-and-run causing injury, as well as issuing her a citation for failing to stop at the stop sign. Bird received a citation for operating a vehicle without insurance.

The Grant County District Attorney’s Office will further review the case. The Sheriff’s Office underscores that individuals arrested or cited are presumed innocent until a court proves them guilty, and the names of victims and witnesses are withheld in accordance with Wisconsin Statute §950.04.
