Dubuque County Road Update: Closure of Old Highway Rd for Culvert Installation & Paving Project

DUBUQUE COUNTY, IA — Officials in Dubuque County have announced a road closure notification related to a significant construction initiative on Old Highway Rd, which will include both culvert repairs and repaving activities between Peosta and Farley. The construction is scheduled to initiate on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 7:00 AM, affecting a stretch of road measuring 2,008 feet.

The undertaking will be divided into three distinct phases. Phase 1 will kick off with culvert enhancements between Epworth and Farley, starting June 9. A complete road closure will be enforced between Hartbecke Rd and Fishpond Rd, alongside additional lane restrictions at three specific sites between Fishpond Rd and Boge Rd. A detour will be established to redirect traffic during this phase, which is projected to persist for 2-3 weeks, contingent on weather fluctuations.

Phase 2 will address additional culvert repairs between Peosta and Epworth, incorporating lane closures at certain locations. This particular phase will not mandate a full road closure or detour; however, an updated map and further instructions will be disseminated as the commencement date approaches.

Lastly, Phase 3 will concentrate on resurfacing the roadway along the section from Peosta to Farley. Traffic management for this concluding segment will include the deployment of a pilot car and flaggers to maintain safety.

Motorists are strongly advised to adhere to detour signage and to remain vigilant in construction zones. Further updates will be shared as the project unfolds, particularly regarding the scheduling of Phase 2.
