**PLATTEVILLE, WI — On May 28, 2025, at approximately 7:51 AM, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Hwy 151 and Airport Rd in Platteville, Wisconsin.**
**The investigation revealed that McKenzie Short, aged 33, from Maquoketa, Iowa, was traveling northbound on Hwy 151 in her 2017 Ford Escape. At the same time, Pedro Duran-Landa, aged 46, from Shullsburg, Wisconsin, was driving westbound on Airport Rd in his 2010 Toyota Prius. Duran-Landa stopped at the stop sign at the intersection but did not see Short’s vehicle in the right lane. As he entered the intersection, Short attempted to brake and swerve to avoid the collision but was unable to do so. Consequently, the front ends of both vehicles collided, causing significant damage to each.**
**Fortunately, all individuals involved—Short, Duran-Landa, and his three passengers—were wearing seatbelts and reported no injuries. The scene was supported by local emergency services, including the Dickeyville Fire Department, Dickeyville EMS, Rips Towing, and Donnie’s Tire and Auto for towing assistance.**
**Duran-Landa received citations for Operating Without a License (2nd Offense), Failure to Yield Right-of-Way From a Stop Sign, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.**
**Note: Individuals cited or arrested by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Case Number: CFS25-13772.**
