DUBUQUE, IA – At approximately 3:27 AM on July 27, 2025, Kendra Denise Figures, a 29-year-old woman, was taken into custody by the Dubuque Police Department at the intersection of 195 Loras Blvd and Main St. The arrest was a result of a traffic stop initiated by Officer J.J. Dura, leading to multiple charges against Figures.
According to the documentation from the court, Figures is facing three misdemeanor charges:
1. Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana (1st Offense),
2. Possession or Carrying of a Dangerous Weapon While Under the Influence, and
3. Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) – 1st Offense.
After her arrest, various court actions were promptly initiated on the same day. The Dubuque Police Department filed criminal complaints (D0001, D0002, D0003), commencing the legal proceedings. Figures subsequently submitted an application for legal counsel along with a financial statement (D0004) to assess her eligibility for representation. Judge Kellyann M. Lekar issued an order for discovery (D0006), and Magistrate Matthew W. Boleyn scheduled a hearing for her initial appearance (D0005) on July 27, 2025.
Records from the court reveal that a preliminary hearing has been arranged for August 14, 2025, at 10:50 AM. Figures was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond, which means she is not required to pay this amount unless she fails to appear in court.
The Dubuque Police Department has yet to provide additional information regarding the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing. Figures is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
