Dubuque, IA – July 22, 2025 – The Dubuque County Public Works Department has effectively finalized a flood repair construction project along Rupp Hollow Road, which stretches 1.87 miles from Highway 3 to Kennedy Road. This project commenced on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 9:00 AM and was completed earlier today, Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM, thereby restoring full access to this critical local roadway.
The repairs specifically targeted damage inflicted by recent flooding, concentrating on restoring the roadbed, repaving the surface, and enhancing drainage systems to ensure both safe travel and increased resilience against future weather-related incidents. The completion of this project was achieved with minimal disruption, allowing Rupp Hollow Road to reopen before the expected timeline.
Local officials commended the rapid response and efficient coordination demonstrated by the county’s public works team. “Our priority was to expedite this repair to reconnect our community and guarantee safe passage for both residents and visitors, particularly with the 72nd Annual Dubuque County Fair taking place,” stated a representative from the Dubuque County Public Works Department. The timely reopening coincides with the fair’s commencement, which launched today with free admission, enabling attendees to access the fairgrounds without experiencing detours.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution while navigating the freshly repaired road surface as it settles and to be alert for any signage indicating ongoing minor maintenance activities.
