**Four Officers from the Dubuque Police Department Excel at Sniper Competition in Superior, Wisconsin**

Four members of the Dubuque Police Department (DPD) Marksman Observer Team made the trip to Superior, Wisconsin, to participate in a distinguished sniper marksmanship competition. Competing against numerous law enforcement snipers from the Midwest, Officer Warner distinguished himself by securing the first-place trophy.

The event, which takes place annually in Superior, is recognized for its demanding challenges that evaluate the precision, focus, and tactical abilities of law enforcement snipers. This year’s competition included various stages, highlighted by a challenging task in which participants fired 10 rounds at a target situated 300 yards away. Achieving accuracy at such long distances necessitates exceptional marksmanship and composure, particularly in a competitive environment.

Officer Warner’s triumph was complemented by his teammates’ impressive performances: Corporal Weitz achieved an outstanding 4th place, Corporal Lech finished in 7th place, and Officer Soppe landed at 12th, demonstrating the remarkable talent present within the DPD’s Marksman Observer Team.

The Marksman Observer Team serves as a specialized unit within the DPD Tactical Unit, responsible for providing observation, gathering critical intelligence, and offering precision fire support during high-risk operations. The skills acquired through competitions like the one held in Superior significantly enhance their effectiveness in real-world scenarios, ultimately contributing to the safety of the Dubuque community.

Sniper competitions hold a rich tradition within law enforcement and military circles, providing an essential platform for sharpshooters to evaluate their skills and share expertise. Events like the Midwest Sniper Competition promote camaraderie and facilitate professional development among participants, ensuring that agencies such as the DPD maintain the highest standards of tactical proficiency.
