**APPLE RIVER, IL – On Thursday, July 17, 2025, at approximately 1:58 p.m., an ATV rollover accident occurred on an ATV trail near the intersection of Flintlock Lane and Powder Horne Lane in Apple Canyon Lake, resulting in injuries to four of the seven individuals onboard. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident.**
**According to reports from law enforcement, the crash was communicated to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center through a radio call from Apple Canyon Lake Security. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies determined that the ATV, operated by Nan E. Ryan, age 34, hailing from Genoa, Illinois, was navigating a downhill curve at an unsafe speed. As a result, Ryan lost control, causing the vehicle to swerve, roll over at least once, collide with a tree, and ultimately come to rest on its side.**
**The ATV was carrying seven individuals, all residents of Genoa, Illinois: Nan E. Ryan (34), Emma L. Risley (32), Alexis A. Beery (31), Kendall P. Mackey (31), Meaghan K. Cleinmark (35), Alexandra B. Hamm (31), and Allison J. Janusz (37). While Ryan, Beery, and Janusz declined medical treatment at the site, Risley was transported by Stockton Ambulance Service to Freeport Memorial Hospital for her injuries. Mackey was taken to Monroe Hospital via Warren Ambulance, and Cleinmark and Hamm were airlifted to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois, by AirCare 3 and Life Flight, respectively, due to their more severe injuries.**
**The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the scene from Apple Canyon Lake Security, Scales Mound Fire Department, Warren Area EMS, Elizabeth EMS, and Stockton Ambulance. No criminal charges have been reported at this juncture, and the investigation into the accident is ongoing by the Sheriff’s Office.**
