### MAQUOKETA, Iowa – July 6, 2025
A devastating head-on collision occurred on Hurstville Road, just north of Maquoketa, resulting in one fatality and one injury on July 4, 2025, as reported by the Iowa State Patrol. The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. and involved a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser and a 2024 Nissan Pathfinder.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the northbound Chrysler PT Cruiser crossed the center line under unexplained circumstances and collided head-on with the southbound Nissan Pathfinder, leading to catastrophic results.
Authorities identified the driver of the Chrysler, 20-year-old Isaiah Ries, who unfortunately did not survive after being rushed to a medical facility. The driver of the Nissan, 44-year-old Mindy Williams of Maquoketa, was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for treatment of serious injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
