An investigation into a death carried out by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office has determined that the young man discovered deceased on July 4, 2025, passed away from natural causes.
Authorities reported that deputies, along with EMS from Southwest Health Center, responded to a call regarding a male found lying on the ground near 7867 Hwy 80 in Lima Township around 7:25 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they located the body of 23-year-old William Schaefer, who resided at that address.
An autopsy revealed that the cause of death stemmed from an underlying medical condition. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Southwest Health Center EMS and the Grant County Coroner’s Office, performed a thorough investigation of the scene.
There are no indications of foul play related to Schaefer’s death.
