**Weather Alert: Special Weather Statement**

On July 10, at 6:30 PM CDT, the National Weather Service in Quad Cities, IA/IL issued a Special Weather Statement regarding severe weather developments.

At 6:29 PM CDT, trained meteorological observers indicated the presence of slow-moving thunderstorms over East Dubuque, close to Dubuque, progressing eastward at a speed of 40 mph. The primary **HAZARD** is minor flooding, as reported by these trained weather spotters.

**IMPACT**: Motorists should be aware that traffic may be slowed or rerouted due to standing water or fast-flowing water. There may also be closures of waterfront access points due to flooding. The areas affected include Dubuque, Freeport, Galena, Mount Carroll, Asbury, Dyersville, Lena, Bellevue, Cascade, Stockton, Epworth, East Dubuque, Farley, Lanark, Warren, Peosta, Hanover, Pearl City, Elizabeth, and Shannon.

If you’re outside, it’s advisable to seek shelter indoors. Intense rainfall is occurring and could result in localized flooding. Drivers are cautioned against traversing flooded roadways and should maintain a safe distance from flooded areas. Any flooding incidents should be reported to local law enforcement. Additionally, there is a risk of frequent cloud-to-ground lightning associated with this storm, which can strike as far as 10 miles away from the thunderstorm. For safety, find shelter inside a building or vehicle. If the heavy rain persists, a flash flood warning may be necessary.
