LANCASTER, WI – A devastating event unfolded on Thursday, July 10, 2025, around 10:00 a.m. CDT, when the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified about a tragic UTV accident involving a juvenile on private property along Hurricane Rd in South Lancaster Township. This incident, documented under case number CFS25-17917, has deeply unsettled the local community.
Initial investigations suggest that the juvenile, who was the only occupant of a 2022 Kawasaki UTV, was performing farm-related tasks when the vehicle lost control. The UTV overturned, causing the juvenile to be thrown from the vehicle and subsequently pinned beneath it. Sadly, at the time of the incident, the juvenile was not utilizing any safety restraints.
The Grant County Coroner declared the juvenile dead at the scene of the accident. The response team included the Grant County Coroner’s Office, Lancaster EMS, the Lancaster Fire Department, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, all of whom assisted with the investigation’s initial phases.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will continue to lead the investigation to determine the specific circumstances of the crash. Authorities have withheld the identity of the juvenile, and additional information is expected as the investigation progresses.
