CLAYTON COUNTY, IA – On July 12, 2025, at roughly 11:21 AM, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarming report regarding a body discovered in the Mississippi River, located north of the Cassville ferry landing. Upon their arrival, deputies—supported by personnel from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office—successfully recovered the body of an adult male. The individual was declared dead at the scene.
The Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office is set to perform an autopsy to establish the identity of the deceased and to determine the cause and manner of death. The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident.
