Reports indicated that a dark-colored SUV struck a cyclist and then fled the scene westbound on CTH A at a high rate of speed.**
**Emergency Medical Services from Lancaster arrived promptly to assist the cyclist, who was found to have sustained serious injuries necessitating urgent medical care. Due to the critical nature of the injuries, Med Flight was dispatched to transport the victim to Grant Regional Health Center, where they would later be transferred to UW Hospital for specialized treatment.**
**At the crash scene, deputies discovered parts of the suspect vehicle, including a passenger-side mirror. While EMS treated the injured cyclist, deputies began searching for a dark-colored SUV that matched the description and displayed similar damage. Shortly thereafter, Grant County Dispatch received a report of a disabled vehicle on CTH E, approximately one mile east of Hwy 61. Responding deputies located a dark gray 2019 Kia Sorento parked along the roadside, featuring a flat front passenger tire, damage to the front passenger side, and a missing passenger-side mirror.**
**The driver was identified as 54-year-old John Goomey, a resident of Platteville. Upon contacting deputies, Goomey exhibited signs of impairment. Following a thorough investigation, he was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail, facing charges of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) Causing Injury and Hit and Run Causing Great Bodily Harm.**
**Assistance in the investigation was provided by the Lancaster Police Department, Lancaster Fire Department, Lancaster EMS, and Arrow Towing. The inquiry is still ongoing, and authorities have withheld the identity of the victim in accordance with Wisconsin Statute §950.04.**
