
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Dubuque County, Iowa. This advisory is in effect from noon today, June 21, 2025, until 8 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025. Expect heat index values soaring to 106 due to the combination of high temperatures in the 90s and elevated humidity levels. The extreme heat can lead to heat-related illnesses, particularly after several days of oppressive heat with overnight lows lingering in the mid to upper 70s. Residents are urged to remain hydrated, stay in air-conditioned locations, and check on those who may be more vulnerable in this heat.
Cooling Centers Available in Dubuque
In response to the heat wave, the City of Dubuque has established several cooling centers offering respite from the heat from June 21 to June 24, 2025. The following are the locations and their scheduled hours:
• Multicultural Family Center: Open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Carnegie-Stout Public Library: Open Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m.; and Monday–Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Comiskey Park Community Center: Open Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Monday–Tuesday from 6:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
• Allison-Henderson Park Community Center: Open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Dubuque Intermodal Transportation Center: Open Monday–Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Theisen’s Home, Farm & Auto: Open Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Monday–Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until unspecified closing time.
