Dubuque County Road Update: Closure of Old Highway Rd for Culvert Installation and Paving Project

DUBUQUE COUNTY, IA — Officials in Dubuque County have announced a significant road project along Old Highway Rd, focused on culvert repairs and resurfacing between Peosta and Farley. This substantial work is slated to begin on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 7:00 AM, covering a distance of 2,008 feet.

The construction will unfold in three distinct phases. Phase 1 will initiate with the repair of culverts between Epworth and Farley, also starting on June 9. This phase will involve a complete closure of the road segment between Hartbecke Rd and Fishpond Rd, as well as lane closures at three critical points between Fishpond Rd and Boge Rd. A detour will be established to guide traffic during this 2-3 week period, subject to weather conditions.

Phase 2 will proceed with additional culvert work located between Peosta and Epworth, with planned lane closures at designated areas. Unlike the first phase, this segment will not necessitate a full road closure or detours, and an updated map along with further details will be shared as the start date approaches.

Phase 3 will concentrate on the repaving effort across the stretch from Peosta to Farley. Traffic management will involve a pilot car and flaggers to maintain safety throughout this final phase of construction.

Motorists are advised to adhere to detour signage and exercise caution within the construction zones. Further updates will be communicated as the project advances, especially regarding the scheduling and conditions of Phase 2.
