PEOSTA, IA — Dubuque County has initiated a multi-phase construction effort on Old Highway Rd, which connects Peosta and Farley. The project is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, and is anticipated to be completed by Friday, July 4, 2025, weather permitting.
Phase 1: Culvert Work (Epworth to Farley)
Beginning on Monday, June 9, 2025, Phase 1 will focus on culvert work along a 2,008-foot segment of Old Highway Rd. A complete road closure is planned between Fishpond Rd and Hartbecke Rd, with lane disruptions occurring at three points between Fishpond Rd and Boge Rd. A detour route will be available, and the duration of this phase is expected to be 2-3 weeks, contingent on weather conditions. Detailed maps will be available from the county.
Phase 2: Culvert Work (Peosta to Epworth)
After the completion of Phase 1, Phase 2 will commence and will target further culvert work between Peosta and Epworth. This phase will include selective lane closures but will not necessitate a full road closure or detours. An updated map along with further details will be provided as the start date for Phase 2 approaches.
Phase 3: Road Resurfacing (Peosta to Farley)
The concluding phase will entail resurfacing Old Highway Rd from Peosta to Farley. Traffic will be directed by a pilot vehicle and flaggers to facilitate safe travel through the area.
Motorists are advised to adhere to detour signage and exercise caution in the construction zones. For additional information, please contact the Dubuque County Road Department.
