Two-Car Accident in Patch Grove Injures Three, Driver Taken into Custody for OWI

PATC GROVE, WI – On May 21, 2025, around 8:15 p.m., a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Hwy 18 and Hwy 35 in Patch Grove, resulting in minor injuries to three individuals, as reported by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver involved, Dennis Nagel, 46, from Prairie du Chien, was traveling north on Hwy 35 in a 2006 Chrysler Sebring when he halted at the intersection. In an attempt to make a left turn onto Hwy 18, Nagel neglected to yield to a 2015 Buick Encore, which was eastbound and operated by a 29-year-old female from Fennimore. The collision led to minor injuries for Nagel, the Fennimore driver, and her minor passenger. All three were subsequently taken to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien for medical evaluation.

Authorities observed indicators of impairment in Nagel’s behavior, leading to his arrest for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 2nd offense resulting in injury. Additionally, he received citations for Operating after Revocation, possession of Open Intoxicants as a Driver, and Failure to Yield Right of Way from a Stop Sign.

Both vehicles suffered significant damage and were towed by Milo’s Towing based in Prairie du Chien. Assistance at the scene was provided by the Wisconsin State Patrol, West Grant EMS, Bloomington First Responders, and the Bloomington Fire Department.

All individuals arrested by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The names of victims and witnesses are withheld in accordance with Wisconsin Statute §950.04.
