Dubuque Public Works Department to Hold ‘Touch a Truck’ Event at Dubuque Farmers’ Market on Saturday, May 24

MAY 21, 2025

In honor of National Public Works Week, Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh has officially proclaimed May 18-24 as Public Works Week in Dubuque, paying tribute to the essential roles that public works professionals play in our community.

The employees of Dubuque’s public works sectors are dedicated to providing critical services such as clean drinking water, stormwater and sewer management, engineering, as well as waste and recycling collection. Furthermore, they oversee the maintenance of vital infrastructure including streets, riverfront properties, floodwalls, landfills, and public parks. They are instrumental in ensuring the city operates smoothly, contributing significantly to the health, safety, and overall comfort of the community.

To celebrate, the City of Dubuque Public Works Department will be hosting a ‘Touch a Truck’ event at the Dubuque Farmers’ Market on Saturday, May 24, from 7 a.m. to noon. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a variety of public works vehicles, including a dump truck, backhoe, mini excavator, and asphalt roller. These vehicles will be showcased on 11th St. at its intersection with Iowa St.
