Dubuque Commemorates Fallen Heroes in Memorial Day Parade

DUBUQUE, Iowa — On May 26, 2025, the Memorial Day Parade in Dubuque united the community in honoring service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Hosted by local veteran organizations, the parade commenced at noon from the Q Casino + Resort parking lot located at Chaplain Schmitt Island. The procession traveled east along Greyhound Park Drive, then onto Admiral Sheehy Drive, passing under the bridge overpass, and circled around the McAleece Park and Recreation Complex, ultimately concluding at Veterans Memorial Plaza.

Following the parade, a poignant ceremony took place at the plaza, featuring heartfelt tributes to those who gave their lives for the nation. Attendees participated in a flag-raising, a wreath-laying ceremony, and the somber playing of taps, as community members and veterans reflected on the profound significance of Memorial Day. “This day reminds us to honor those who sacrificed everything for our freedom,” remarked a local veteran present at the event.
