
DUBUQUE, IA – On May 24, 2025, at 11:08 a.m., the Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a boat fire at American Marine, located at 1630 E 16th St. Responding promptly, the Dubuque Fire Department dispatched units at 11:09 a.m., which included Battalion 1, Marine 1 (manned by Engine 1), Engine 3, Engine 6, Truck 1, Truck 4, and Medic 1, deploying 15 firefighters in total.
Battalion 1 reached the scene within five minutes, assuming command and directing the firefighting efforts. Firefighters were met with intense smoke and flames from the docked vessel. The team executed an assertive response, deploying hose lines and coordinating with marina staff to safeguard nearby boats. Within 15 minutes of their arrival, the fire was contained to the original vessel and completely extinguished. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
The boat was declared a total loss, along with minor damages inflicted on adjacent vessels and the marina’s covering structure. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Dubuque Fire Department.
